OUR SERVICES

Our work is concerned with the external and internal communications of any matters affecting the University's image. The specific services that OUC offers include:

• Publicizing news, events, and developments of the University to regional or selected, appropriate worldwide audiences
• Communicating crucial notices about members of the community in an appropriate and timely manner, either within the University community or externally, when appropriate
• Ensuring that the media is invited to attend and cover University-sponsored events, and when appropriate, ensuring that the media, local, regional, or worldwide is informed of these events.
• Managing crises communications in emergencies to minimize the harm done to all members of the University community
• Contributing to University publications by collaboration with the Office of University Publications
• Responding to internal and external queries for information about the activities of the University
• Working with University departments and units on sponsorship and donations to the community and charities
• Assessing photography needs for events and processing departmental requests for photography
• Giving guidance about standards of protocol to be followed at events involving University participation
• Specifying standards applicable to invitations issued by the Offices of the Chancellor and the Provost to all visiting dignitaries
• Sourcing and ordering gifts for visitors
• Managing all communication aspects of University-sponsored events, including preparation of programs, scripts and flyers

WHEN WILL YOU NEED OUR SERVICES?

You will know when you need our services when you:

• Or any other member of your department is involved in a project (either as a leader or participant) that has value for the University and/or the wider public
• Want to invite the Governor General, Prime Minister, a Government Minister or diplomat to an event
• Know that Senior University Administrators will be attending an event you’re hosting
• Want to invite the media
• Would like to publicise something your department is doing or is involved in
• Need photographs for an event or other University-related matter
• Have a visitor and you would like to present an SGU token
• Need to produce something with the University’s logo on it
• Want to produce a brochure or other booklet with information about your department for dissemination
• Are hosting an event which requires a programme
• Are uncertain about what you need for a University activity with communications issues
• Are planning to produce a brochure or flyer for an activity in the University
