Welcome To St. George’s University Faculty Handbook

St. George’s University was founded on August 4, 1976. On that date the founders could not have foreseen the growth of the University that would occur during the ensuing years. Nor could we have envisioned the range of benefits to be bestowed on the lives and careers of the graduates, staff and faculty. Building on the successful development of the University’s Medical School, the founders sought further academic expansion by establishing a program of Graduate Studies, then a School of Arts and Sciences and later a School of Veterinary Medicine. The handbook describes the separate professional practices in these Schools and, more significantly, it expresses explicitly the shared values and principles of the whole University.

This procedural manual governs the conduct of faculty business associated with teaching, examining and setting exemplary standards of behavior in the academic community. It affirms the goals, policies and procedures, devised by the faculty and administration to ensure that the University is a model of professionalism and humanity in all of its activities.

As the Chancellor, I am proud of the high standards attained by all members of this truly international university.

Dr Charles R. Modica, JD
