Profile: Dr. Greg Wybern

Dr. Greg Wybern is originally from the state of New Jersey, USA. He has a BS in microbiology and a DVM: both obtained from Colorado State University. He began his career by working at 3 emergency clinics then opened his own Emergency Clinic in Marlboro, New Jersey. After a few years, Dr. Wybern took on the challenge of opening and operating 5 out-patient clinics in the surrounding areas which referred cases to his central emergency clinic. He recruited veterinarians into practice then offered them a limited partnership so they would manage the clinics. With his out-patient clinics being managed by different veterinarians, this gave Dr. Wybern the opportunity to build a large animal facility on 10 acres of land, which comprised of surgical, recovery, in/out patient care along with his personal home. After 20 years of owning and operating his clinics, Dr. Wybern decided to change his large animal facility into a residential development by building 4 estates. He then sold the practice to veterinarians in management and retired.
Dr. Wybern, at that point, decided to learn more about the veterinary corporate structure and signed a contract with Banfield Pet Hospital for 2½ years. During that time, he was the medical director and managed 40 hospitals in the Los Angeles and San Diego area. He managed approximately 60 doctors and 300 support staff. While working with Banfield, Dr. Wybern was offered the position of Director, Small Animal Hospital, St. George’s University and he journeyed to Grenada.
Dr. Wybern is experienced in veterinary business management, corporate veterinary medicine and land development. He believes St. George’s University is a great place that offers a nurturing, educational environment to students. He further believes that the Small Animal Hospital creates a hands-on learning environment to students in terms of the number and diverse cases that are presented.
Dr. Wybern is a member of various business clubs. He has a love for sailing and owns a 40 foot sail boat called “Edelweiss”. He is happily married to Cathy Wybern. Both Cathy and Dr. Wybern worked together over the last 18 years of marriage.
