SVM Turns Ten and Paws Print Celebrates Hundredth Issue

..........SVM Charter Class featured in 1st Issue of Paw Prints, predecessor of Paws Print
Since welcoming the forty-two bright and optimistic veterinarians-to-be of its charter class in September 1999, the St. George's University School of Veterinary Medicine has grown considerably. Its 490 graduates, licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the U.S.A., U.K., Canada and Grenada, come from all corners of the globe: Grenada, U.S.A, U.K., Canada, Sweden, Ireland, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Jamaica, Venezuela, Russia, Mexico, Portugal and more. The school has done remarkably well. We invite you to join us in wishing them:
......... HAPPY TENTH ANNIVERSARY
In the same year in which it welcomed its charter class, the SGUSVM first published its newsletter, Paw Prints. In that first issue, which was published October 1, 1999, the newsletter proudly welcomed the new students to SGUSVM. After about four years, the publication spent some time in dormancy, arising in September 2006 as Paws Print. In addition to the slight name change, the publication went green, going from print to being solely electronic. Its layout has seen various changes over these three years, but it continues to keep you informed, bringing you SGUSVM stories, articles, updates and notices.
The Paws Print Team thanks readers for their contribution and support over the last hundred issues. Please continue sharing with us. We are always happy to publish your stories and receive feedback from you. Look out for more wonderful stories and important announcements in Paws Print!

Highlights
1999
SGUSVM debuts and welcomes its charter class.
2001
SGUSVM’s expansion was greatly enhanced with the addition of the Small Animal Hospital (SAH) (see third story on left at link), formerly the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. The SAH enabled the School’s community service and outreach efforts which have existed in Grenada since the school was launched in 1999. Later in 2004, following the severe damage that the GSPCA facility endured during Hurricane Ivan, the SAH expanded to reflect the growing needs of the school.
2003
In Fall 2003, SVM Outreach Programs were initiated and established by Dr. Ravindra N. Sharma with the assistance of the Outreach team which included the Chief Veterinary Officer, Dr. Bowen Louison (Ministry of Agriculture), faculty, staff and two veterinary student representatives. The program involves a series of one day seminars which include PowerPoint presentations, videos and open discussions with question & answer sessions and a local business example for discussion...
