- SAAVMA Vet Get Together: Friday, January 25, 2008 from 7:00 – 10:00 PM at the Caribbean House. Dinner and drinks on sale. For more information, contact Laura Wilmore at willau@sgu.edu
- NAVLE Review and Preparation: Coming soon, a six session course to help senior veterinary students and veterinarians prepare for the North American Veterinary Licensure Exam (NAVLE). Real-time sessions on specified dates from February 24 to April 6, 2008. Open for enrollment by February 3, 2008.
- MSc. Thesis Defense Seminar: Seroepidemiological study of feline leukemia virus and feline immunodeficiency virus infections in domestic and feral cats in Grenada. Tuesday, February 19, 2008 from 5:00 – 6:00 PM in VSL East. Faculty and students are invited to attend.

- Class Schedules: For all SVM classes, Terms 1 through 6. Please select the appropriate sheet for the term that you are currently in.
- Lecture Hall Assignments: Please review this document to find out where your classes will be held.
- Key of Recurrent Events and Significant Holidays: Some important dates that you should familiarize yourself with each term.
- Summer Research Opportunity: Students are encouraged to participate in studies to characterize isolates being preserved at the Animal Parasitic Diseases Laboratory, Beltsville, Maryland, USA, during summer 2008. Interested students should apply to Dr. Ravindra Sharma via e-mail to rsharma@sgu.edu. Deadline for submission of applications: January 30, 2008. CVs must accompany applications.
- Scholarships available from the Association for Women Veterinarians Foundation: Four scholarships of $1,500 each will be awarded to current second or third year veterinary medical students. U.S. and Canadian residents are eligible to apply. Completed applications should be sent to Bonnie Thomson via e-mail to bthomps@vet.ksu.edu. Applications should be postmarked no later than January 31, 2008.
- Call for papers for AAEP 2008 Convention: Members of the AAEP and other individuals are invited to submit papers for consideration for presentation during the 54th AAEP Annual Convention in San Diego, CA. Deadline for submission: March 14, 2008.

Dear Readers,
As we begin the Spring 2008 term, I welcome each and every one of you. For those of you returning, I hope that you enjoyed a well deserved break and for those of you joining the School of Veterinary Medicine for the first time, a hearty welcome.
This term, I am happy to announce that our resident faculty has grown to include seven new members. A warm welcome to Ms. Claudia Marcela Martinez, who has joined the Department of Preclinical Studies; Dr. Kamashi Kumar, Dr. G. P. Sabarinath, Dr. Rohini Roopnarine and Dr. Adria Rodriguez, who have joined the Department of Paraclinical Studies; Dr. Rodolofo Bruhl Day, who has joined the Department of Clinical Studies and; Dr. Sandra Mattoni, who has joined the Small Animal Hospital.
I will like to wish each of you, all the very best during the term ahead and I hope that you will visit Paws Print each week, as we provide information and details about all current and upcoming SVM projects, activities and news.
