On February 12, 2009 two of St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine’s students were the recipients of awards at the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine (AU CVM), where they both embarked upon their fourth year clinical training regime.
Lisa Keenan was the proud recipient of the Porter White Memorial Scholarship, which was awarded to a senior student who demonstrated outstanding patient care and dedication. This scholarship was awarded by the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine Scholarship Committee in Auburn, Alabama at the recently held AU CVM Honors Night. Lisa received this award just a few days after attaining her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from SGUSVM on January 31, 2009.
While completing her clinical training, Lisa participated in small and large animal medicine, surgical and critical care rotations. She also had the opportunity to partake in some electives and rotations at the Alabama State Diagnostic Laboratory and the Alabama State Department of Agriculture, Homeland Security Department. Prior to becoming a veterinary student, she worked in Las Vegas, Nevada as a licensed veterinary technician.
