ANGEL Upgrade Notice - Assessments will Replace Quizzes

Dear ANGEL User,

As stated in previous correspondences, the University will be upgrading from ANGEL 7.2 to version 7.4 on July 21. ANGEL will be unavailable that day. This message tells you what to expect with regard to quizzes, in the new environment.

Converting Quizzes to Assessments: What to Expect

During the upgrade to ANGEL 7.4, quizzes will be automatically upgraded to an enhanced form called assessments. To allow ANGEL to automatically upgrade your quizzes, click the Convert all my Quizzes now button as shown in the figure below.

Your new assessments will contain all the questions and settings that were previously associated with your quiz. This is the recommended option of conversion.

You may choose to convert the quizzes at a later date. To do so, click the I’ll convert them later button. To convert the quizzes manually, use the Lessons > Utilities menu and click the Course Quiz and Survey Migration link to convert all quizzes to assessments and surveys to enhanced surveys. It is important to note that quizzes will no longer function and are marked with a non-functioning icon.

Finally, if you would like to convert quizzes to assessments before the upgrade, you may do so using any one of the following methods:

Go to the Utilities menu on the Lessons tab then select the Course Quiz Migration link to convert all quizzes at once; you will receive a prompt asking you whether you would like to create backups of the existing quizzes, if you select yes, quizzes will be converted to assessments and the original copy of the quizzes will remain as quizzes in your course lesson tab (functional only before the upgrade on July 21st).

Go to the Utilities menu of the individual quizzes and select Convert Quiz to Assessment. The copy of the old quiz will remain, while converting that quiz to an assessment.

NOTE: If these manual options are chosen, assignment, automate and review settings for the quiz will be removed and will need to be re-entered. Both pending and completed submissions will also be removed.
