What Is It?

All participants must submit one single image or collage photo in a maximum of three categories. The following provides the list of categories and a small sample of ideas within those categories. Remember, originality and creativity are the key to success!

Ant’s-Eye View – A photographer’s perspective is critical to the success of the final product.  Keep in mind an ant’s-eye view.  When positioned low to the ground, the photographer has greater opportunity to take a more interesting photograph, as shooting from very low helps the subject stand out.

Ripple Effect – Water, in its many forms, can be one of the most powerful elements for artistic expression. Whether it is a plunging waterfall, a splash from a child’s cannonball, delicate pools of waters formed on a beach, or a river canoe adventure, water is Mother Nature’s irresistible subject.

Weathering the Storm – Great light makes great pictures; the soft light from cloudy and stormy days makes any landscape, portrait, or event appear more dramatic.

People – Friends, family, colleagues, or mentors; remember that photos captured at an individual’s eye level are always more personal and captivating.

Landscape and Cityscape – Landscape photography is perhaps the most popular type of outdoor photography.  Images from distant, exotic destinations, or those from your own backyard serve as keepsakes for years to come.

Digitally Altered – With the advent of computers and digital cameras, photo manipulation has become an increasingly more popular and interesting art form.  From subtle alterations to color, to skilled image altering special effects, the creative possibilities are endless. If a photograph is digitally altered in any way, it must be submitted to this category.

The contest will run annually from January 1st through November 1st.
