Student Counseling Service
Adjustments to University life, especially in a new country, may present an enormous challenge to some students. The Student Counseling Service is available to help all new students "settle in" and prepare to meet the challenges ahead. Students may speak to one of our professional counselors or, if they prefer, they may speak to one of their peers. Peer counselors, chosen by their fellow classmates, are trained in basic counseling techniques and work under a strict code of confidentiality.
The SCS is:
- Confidential: Independent of campus administration;
- Convenient: Located in the Caribbean House at Upper True Blue, first floor (small door to the right of the building);
- Preventive: Encourages early discussion when difficulties are minor and more easily resolved;
- Free: Provides students with a choice of professional or peer counseling, at no charge.
