In 1990, Dr. Forde completed his undergraduate degree at the University of the West Indies (UWI), earning a BSc Industrial Engineering; in 1994, he earned a MASc in Occupational Ergonomics at Dalhousie University, Canada; and in 2000 he received a ScD in Occupational Ergonomics from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

In September 2000, Dr. Forde began his teaching and research career at St. George’s University within the Department of Public Health & Preventive Medicine as an Assistant Professor and since 2007 has attained the position of full Professor.  He has prime teaching responsibilities for teaching Environmental Health, Occupational Health, and Ergonomics & Industrial Hygiene and currently is the Track Director for the Environmental and Occupational Health Track within the Department.

In addition to teaching, Dr. Forde is actively involved in several technical and governmental committees that focus in occupational and environmental health issues.  Within recent times, Dr. Forde has received funding from the World Bank and the Pan American Health and Education to develop a biomedical waste management manual for Grenadian healthcare personnel and to assess the status of biomedical waste management within the eastern Caribbean islands.  Additionally, he recently helped develop a disaster preparedness and response plan for HIV person for Grenada.

His current research interests involve determining the level of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and bathing/drinking water quality in the Caribbean.

Currently Dr. Forde is on sabbatical pursuing a master’s degree at Harvard School of Public Health in Environmental Health Management.
